Luton was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad Monday and will back up Geno Smith in Monday's game against the Saints, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Seattle claimed fellow quarterback Jacob Eason off waivers last week, but Eason's still familiarizing himself with the playbook, leaving Luton as Smith's backup for a second consecutive week. Luton didn't make a strong first impression after being selected in the sixth round of the 2020 draft by the Jaguars, going 0-3 with an ugly 2:6 TD:INT as a rookie for Jacksonville.
