Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Headed for IR soon

Coach Pete Carroll said Friday that Wilson (finger) will be placed on injured reserve soon, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Once it becomes official, Wilson won't be eligible to play again until Nov. 14 against the Packers (Week 10). Even that appears optimistic, with most reports suggesting he'll miss at least four weeks and possibly up to eight. While Wilson recovers from Oct. 8 surgery, Geno Smith will serve as Seattle's starting quarterback.
