Averett left Saturday's preseason contest with a hamstring injury and will not return, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
It remains to be seen if this injury will impact Averett's availability moving forward, but it will open up time for Kyler McMichael, Thomas Graham, Zyon Gilbert and Kiondre Thomas, all different corners competing for what figures to be one of the last spots available on the roster prior to the start of the regular season.
