Allen is likely to test the free agent market, according to ESPN writer Jeremy Fowler.
Recognizing the need to improve the defensive backfield, Pittsburgh needs to determine if Allen, who will be 34 before the start of the season, fits in its plans. Despite setting single-season career highs in tackles and passes defended in 2015, Allen could find himself on the open market where, considering his age, he is unlikely to receive anything more than one-year offers. Still, regarrdless of the team, if he is on the field Allen is a respectable IDP option.
