Savage was the second quarterback to play in Sunday's preseason opening win over the 49ers. He completed 14-of-24 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns.
All the caveats about playing against second- and third-teamers apply, but it was a positive showing for the third-year quarterback, who missed all of 2015 with a shoulder injury. He's competing for the backup job with Brandon Weeden, who mopped up the final five minutes of the game.
