Mond isn't a candidate to start Week 18 against Chicago, with Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer saying "not particularly" when asked if he wanted to see Mond play, the Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Mond played one series in Sunday's loss at Green Bay, going 2-for-3 for five yards.
Mond played one series when starter Sean Mannion was unavailable due to a hand injury. It's not clear if Kirk Cousins will start Week 18 with the Vikings eliminated from playoff contention (and not clear if Cousins will return from the COVID-19 list), but it looks like Mannion and not Mond would start if needed.
