Ferentz announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports. Ferentz will finish his nine-year career as a two-time Super Bowl champion. The 34-year-old has not officially handed in his retirement papers, but it appears a decision has been made. He backed up David Andrews at center during the 2023 season.

Ferentz agreed Thursday with the Patriots on a one-year, $1.215 million deal, Doug Kyed of AtoZSports.com reports. The 33-year-old offensive lineman has spent the last five seasons in New England, making nine starts as an interior reserve. He'll likely fill the same role again in 2023.
