• Randall Cobb: Begins broadcasting career

  ESPN announced Thursday that Cobb will join SEC Network as a college football studio analyst for the 2024 season. In his statement in ESPN's press release, Cobb didn't specifically say that he has retired from professional football, though his entry into sports broadcasting likely signals that his playing days are over. After joining former Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers in New York last offseason, Cobb proceeded to suit up in 11 of 17 games during his lone season with the Jets, tallying five catches for 39 yards and a touchdown on 17 targets. After the 33-year-old slot receiver was a healthy inactive on multiple occasions during the second half of the season and struggled to produce when he suited up, he presumably drew limited interest in free agency this offseason. If Cobb's playing days are officially done, he'll wrap up his 13-year NFL career with a 630-7,624-54 receiving line on 909 targets to go with 364 yards on 63 carries and two punt and one kickoff returns for touchdowns over 166 regular-season games with the Packers, Cowboys, Texans and Jets. He made his lone Pro Bowl as a member of the Packers in 2014.

• Jets' Randall Cobb: Just five catches all season

  Cobb caught his lone target for four yards in Sunday's 17-3 win over the Patriots. He finishes the season with five catches for 39 yards and a touchdown on 17 targets. Cobb appeared in 11 games for the Jets, but the 33-year-old wide receiver didn't look like he had much gas left in the tank in 2023. The veteran slot receiver topped 800 yards four times in his career but only once since 2015, and Sunday may have marked his last NFL action.

  Cobb is active for Thursday night's game against the Browns. After being a healthy scratch in Week 16, Cobb is back in the mix due to Allen Lazard (illness) being inactive Thursday.   Cobb (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest versus Washington. Cobb didn't catch a pass last week against Miami and has had a very minimal role in the Jets' offense this season, totaling just four catches on 16 targets for 35 yards and a touchdown over nine games. He's been inactive as a coach's decision on multiple occasions, so his benching Sunday doesn't come as a surprise. Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Xavier Gipson, Jason Brownlee and Irvin Charles will be the wideouts available to Trevor Siemian, who is filling in for Zach Wilson (concussion), in the contest.

• Jets' Randall Cobb: Blanked in shutout loss

  Cobb didn't catch any of his three targets in Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Dolphins. Cobb was the intended target on the first of Trevor Siemian's two second-half interceptions, though the veteran wide receiver couldn't do anything about Siemian's egregious overthrow on the play. New York's offense looked markedly worse with Siemian under center than it has for most of the season with Zach Wilson (concussion), whom Siemian replaced in the second quarter.
