Cox announced Sunday via his personal Instagram account that he has retired from professional football. A 2012 first-round draft pick, Cox spent his entire 12-year career in Philadelphia. The 33-year-old was one of the standout defensive tackles of his era, earning six Pro Bowl nods and a spot on the NFL's 2010s All-Decade Team. The Mississippi State product finished his career with 519 total tackles, 70 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, 14 fumble recoveries and three touchdowns over 188 regular-season contests.

Cox finished the season with 33 tackles (15 solo), including 5.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Cox's numbers did dip slightly from last season's 7.0 sacks and 43 tackles (23 solo), but that was at least partially due to the fact that he played two fewer games, missing one with a groin injury and resting in Week 18. He may not be the player he was at his peak, but he remained a very important part of the Eagles' defense in his 12th NFL season.

Cox (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants. Cox wasn't listed on the Eagles' Week 18 injury report, but he looks like he'll be getting some extra rest ahead of the postseason. In Cox's absence, Jalen Carter and Milton Williams are candidates to see added snaps at defensive tackle.

Cox logged three total tackles (one solo) in Sunday's 35-31 loss to the Cardinals. Cox, along with the rest of the Eagles' defensive line, really struggled to stop the Cardinals' rushing attack Sunday, as they racked up 221 yards on the ground, which is the most Philadelphia has allowed all season. The veteran defensive lineman has appeared in 15 games this year, recording 33 total tackles, including three tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. Cox and Philadelphia's defense will look to rebound against the Giants in Week 18.

Cox (groin) is active Sunday against the 49ers. Cox suffered the injury during the team's Week 12 win over the Bills and then proceeded to log DNPs throughout the week leading up to Sunday. His ability to suit up should be good news for the Eagles' defensive front.
