Mitchell had a tryout with the Jets on Wednesday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports. Mitchell was let go by the 49ers in early August after reaching an injury settlement. He now appears to have left the undisclosed injury behind him. New York is dealing with injuries to cornerbacks D.J. Reed (concussion) and Brandin Echols (hamstring) entering the week.

Mitchell (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the 49ers on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The 31-year-old signed with San Francisco this offseason after having stints with Cleveland, Kansas City, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and Tennessee. Mitchell's injury is currently unknown, but the journeyman cornerback will now be forced to miss all of the 2023 campaign unless he works out an injury settlement with the team.

Mitchell (hamstring) and the 49ers have come to terms on a contract, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Mitchell's 2022 season ended when he was placed on injured reserve by Tennessee due to a hamstring injury in December. His signing in San Francisco indicates he has fully moved on from that issue. The 31-year-old is an eight-year veteran and has tallied 290 tackles (240 solo), nine interceptions and one sack across 94 career games. He is looking to secure a depth cornerback role with the 49ers in training camp.

The Titans placed Mitchell (hamstring) on injured reserve Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports. Mitchell was forced out with a hamstring injury during the Titans' loss to the Chargers on Sunday, and he had already been ruled out for Week 16 against Houston, according to Turron Davenport of ESPN.com. Now, the 30-year-old cornerback will be forced to miss at least the next four games for Tennessee, setting the divisional round of the playoffs as his earliest possible date for a return. Mitchell has recorded 39 tackles, four passes defended and an interception while playing all but eight of his 378 snaps on defense across 11 games in 2022. With Elijah Molden (groin), Chris Jackson (undisclosed) and Caleb Farley (back) all on IR as well, the Titans currently have just four remaining cornerbacks on the active roster.

Mitchell (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Chargers, John Glennon of SI.com reports. Mitchell sustained a hamstring injury at some point in the first half, though it's unclear when or how this occurred. The 30-year-old will now have a slightly short week to work his way back before Saturday's contest against Houston. With three cornerbacks on IR and Kristian Fulton (ankle) and Tre Avery (concussion) both inactive Week 15, John Reid and Greg Mabin will have to step up into much bigger roles alongside starter Roger McCreary.
