Lawson compiled four tackles (three solo), two passes defended and an interception in a 23-20 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. Lawson stepped into a big role for the first time since he joined the Jaguars after being let go by the Raiders earlier in the season. Playing 100 percent of the snaps with Tyson Campbell (toe) out, Lawson took advantage of his opportunity and made an impact. With Campbell's status up in the air heading into the Week 7 bye, it's hard to say whether Lawson will continue to enjoy as prominent a role in Week 8 against the Seahawks.

Lawson was released by the Raiders on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Lawson was suspended for the first two games of the year for violating the NFL policy for performance-enhancing substances, but he'll be let go now that his suspension is over. Nate Hobbs has started in his place during the first two games of the season and will likely maintain a starting role. However, the Raiders are hopeful that they'll be able to sign Lawson to their practice squad.

Lawson has agreed to a one-year deal with the Raiders, Anthony Galaviz of the Fresno Bee reports. Lawson played a prominent role in the secondary in his first season with Las Vegas in 2020, racking up 735 snaps. He managed four passes defended with 61 tackles and will now return to the team for a second campaign.

Lawson (illness) is inactive for Thursday's matchup game the Chargers. After earning his eighth start of the 2020 campaign Week 14 against the Colts, Lawson popped up on the injury report Wednesday with a reported illness. It's since been confirmed that the issue is serious enough to hand Lawson his second absence of the season, thrusting Isaiah Johnson into a more integral role at cornerback. With Damon Arnette and Johnathan Abram both inactive due to concussions, plus Jeff Heath (concussion) residing on IR, the Raiders' secondary is hurting heading into Thursday night's matchup.

Lawson had his suspension lifted following Sunday's win over the Panthers, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Lawson was handed a one-game suspension for "using a helmet that is no longer worn by anyone as a weapon to strike, swing at, or throw at an opponent" during last year's season finale against Denver. Now that he sat out of Sunday's season opener, he's eligible to return for Week 2's matchup versus the Saints, but he may stick to special teams to start off.
