  • Paxton Lynch: Lands in CFL
    By RotoWire

Lynch signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL on June 28, Justin Dunk of 3DownNation.com reports. Lynch failed to secure a spot on the Steelers' roster during camp in 2020, and he was unable to land a spot on another team's practice squad. It's not yet clear whether the 2016 first-rounder will return to the NFL at some point after he totaled 792 passing yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions across five games with the Broncos in 2016 and 2017.

  • Lynch didn't play any snaps while serving as the Steelers' backup quarterback in Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Ravens. Lynch was promoted from the practice squad Oct. 11 but didn't see the field during his two and a half months on the active roster, even with both Mason Rudolph (shoulder) and Devlin Hodges being demoted from starting roles at points. The 2016 first-round pick hasn't seen any NFL action since his second pro season and is unlikely to be much more than a training-camp body at quarterback if he sticks with Pittsburgh in 2020.

  • Lynch will back up Devlin Hodges in Week 17's game against the Ravens, ESPN.com reports. Hodges started this past Sunday's loss to the Jets but played poorly and was relieved by Mason Rudolph, who suffered a shoulder injury during the contest. Therefore, Hodges will get the nod again, but Lynch will be ready if the undrafted rookie struggles again. Lynch last played in two games for the Broncos in 2017, completing 67 percent of passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

  • Lynch was added to the Steelers' 53-man roster from the practice squad Friday. The 2016 first-rounder spent the preseason with the Seahawks but was let go at September's roster deadline and joined the Steelers' practice squad Sept. 17. Lynch provides some additional depth at quarterback with Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) on injured reserve and Mason Rudolph dealing with a concussion. Lynch will serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind Devlin Hodges this week against the Chargers with Rudolph sidelined.

  • Lynch signed with Pittsburgh's practice squad Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Lynch was available after the Seahawks let him go Aug. 30. The former first-round pick will be able to provide the Steelers' quarterback room with some depth after it was announced Monday that Ben Roethlisberger would miss the remainder of the season with an elbow injury.
