  • Patriots' Sean Davis: Leaves with injury
    By RotoWire

Davis (shoulder) is questionable to return Sunday against the Dolphins, Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com reports. Davis suffered the injury in the first half. With Kyle Dugger (hand) out, Davis was active to help provide depth at safety. Justin Bethel will likely see extra work until Davis can return.

  • The Bengals elevated Davis to their active roster Saturday. Davis spent the preseason with the Colts, but he failed to make the initial 53-man roster and landed on the Bengals' practice squad. He spent the 2020 campaign with the Steelers and appeared in 16 contests, mostly contributing on special teams.

  • Sean Davis: Released by Indianapolis
    By RotoWire

The Colts released Davis on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Davis linked up with the Colts back in April and appeared destined to secure a depth role at safety, but the veteran will now have to look for a chance elsewhere. He mostly contributed on special teams in 16 appearances with the Steelers last season.

  • Sean Davis: Surprisingly let go
    By RotoWire

Davis was released by Washington on Saturday, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports. The transaction clears the way for Troy Apke to start at safety opposite Landon Collins. Davis signed a one-year contract with Washington all the way back in March with the intent on securing a starting safety spot, but he'll have to find a different path to a team's top unit. A two-year starter with the Steelers back in 2017 and 2018, it'd be a bit surprising if Davis doesn't end up on a roster, even if it's under the guise of depth along the secondary.

  • Steelers' Sean Davis: Lands on IR
    By RotoWire

Davis (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a torn labrum, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. A day after Davis said he expected to play in Week 3 versus the 49ers, the Steelers sent him to IR. His injury will need extensive recovery, but the fourth-year pro is a solid candidate to return in Week 11. To help lessen the effect on defense, the Steelers traded a 2020 first-round pick to the Dolphins in exchange for Minkah Fitzpatrick, who is talented enough to possibly retain the starting job even when Davis returns.
