The 49ers waived Sharpe (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. San Francisco signed Sharpe to its practice squad Nov. 7 but placed him on the practice squad injured list with an undisclosed issue eight days later. The veteran receiver has yet to see NFL action this season following a 2021 campaign during which he caught 25 passes for 230 yards as a member of the Falcons.

The veteran wideout will now be forced to miss at least four games while on the PS injured list due to an undisclosed injury.

Sharpe signed to the 49ers' practice squad Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Sharpe worked out for the 49ers last week and will now join the team's practice unit. The wide receiver caught 25 passes for 230 yards while appearing in 15 games with the Falcons last season and has yet to appear in a contest in 2022. Sharpe will provide San Francisco with an additional depth option on offense and could even get elevated for Week 10 versus the Chargers if Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is held out again.

Sharpe (ribs) received a tryout with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Sharpe spent training camp with the Bears and did make their final 53-man roster. However, the 27-year-old suffered a rib injury during camp that ultimately led to him being placed on IR, before reaching an injury settlement with the team on Sept. 9. Now seemingly healthy, Sharpe is working to earn an opportunity to play this season.

Sharpe was set to miss the remainder of the season after being placed on injured reserve, but he'll now be free to join a new team in 2022 once he clears his current rib injury. It's unclear when the veteran wideout initially suffered the injury, but he was sidelined for the final two exhibition games after leading Chicago with 44 receiving yards during the preseason opener.
