Collins (abdomen) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. The Seahawks signed running back Josh Johnson off the practice squad to join the roster as a replacement for Collins, who has been troubled by the abdominal injury off and on throughout the season. Prior to being sidelined for four out of Seattle's last five games -- three times due to the injury and once due to a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list -- Collins had picked up six starts in the wake of Chris Carson's season-ending neck injury. Despite the big opportunity afforded to him, Collins averaged a pedestrian 3.8 yards per carry and found the end zone only twice over his 11 appearances on the season. His absences in recent weeks opened up more work for Rashaad Penny, who has seized control of the lead role out of the backfield with three games of 130-plus rushing yards in his last four outings.

Collins (abdomen) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions, Collins will take a seat for the third consecutive game, but unlike the Week 16 loss to the Bears, the veteran running back technically is sitting Sunday due to his lingering abdominal injury. Rashaad Penny once again should handle lead-back duties for Seattle versus Detroit's vulnerable run defense.

Collins (abdomen) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Detroit, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. With Rashaad Penny taking over as the lead back down the stretch this season, Collins was inactive last week despite being cleared from the final injury report. He isn't likely to see more than a handful of touches even if he plays this Sunday.

Collins (abdomen) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday. Collins seemingly is in a holding pattern, as he's only missed practice since Week 11 prep when he was away from the team from Dec. 16-22 due to a bout with COVID-19. While only one of his three absences over the last four games was attributed to the virus, the others technically were healthy scratches. Coach Pete Carroll spoke of Collins on Monday, telling Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times that the running back didn't play this past Sunday versus the Bears because the Seahawks "need to make sure that he is back all the way." If Collins is unable to prove as much, either by being ruled out Friday or getting the inactive tag Sunday, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer will be the players to mix in behind current No. 1 RB Rashaad Penny.

Collins (abdomen) was limited at Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Collins has missed three of the last four games due to a combination of a lingering abdominal injury and a bout with COVID-19. Speaking of the running back Monday, coach Pete Carroll told Bob Condotta of The Seattle TImes that Collins "just got back (from the reserve/COVID-19 list), and we just need to make sure that he is back all the way." Considering Collins still has a cap on his practice reps at the beginning of Week 17 prep, he may not be ready yet to join what is a relatively healthy backfield led by Rashaad Penny, with DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer in reserve roles. Collins has two sessions left this week to prove his health ahead of Sunday's contest against the Lions.
