  Tennessee waived Godwin on Monday, Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reports. Unless he's claimed by another team during the current waiver period, Godwin will become an unrestricted free agent. He's been with three different teams since being drafted in the seventh round in 2019 but has also appeared in just three regular-season games. Godwin's departure shortens the odds that fellow wideouts Dez Fitzpatrick, Racey McMath or Cody Hollister are able to crack the TItans' initial 53-man roster.

  Godwin (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Eugene Frenette of the Florida Times-Union reports. Godwin played in three games during his rookie season, mostly as a special teams player. The 24-year-old did catch three passes for 32 yards during the final game of the regular season with the Jaguars devoid of healthy pass catchers, but it's hard to imagine he can make a similar climb up the depth chart under a new coaching regime.

  Godwin caught three of four targets for 32 yards during Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Colts. The 24-year-old signed to the active roster over the weekend and had the first receptions of his NFL career in the finale. Godwin also appeared in two contests for Jacksonville earlier this year and failed to catch two targets. The 2019 seventh-round pick could remain with the Jags through the offseason, but he figures to be a longshot for the season-opening roster in 2021.

  The Jaguars signed Godwin to the 53-man roster Saturday. Godwin has played in two games this season; he was targeted twice but failed to haul in either pass. The second-year wide receiver could handle a larger role in Sunday's matchup against the Colts, as DJ Chark (shin) and Collin Johnson (hamstring) have been ruled out. Godwin slots in as the No. 4 wide receiver behind Laviska Shenault, Keelan Cole and Chris Conley.
