  • Byron Pringle: Cut by Washington
    By RotoWire

The Commanders released Pringle on Friday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports. The veteran wideout linked up with Washington in late July, but the team has decided to move in another direction. Pringle's last regular-season action came with the Commanders in 2023, when he recorded 161 receiving yards on 14 receptions across 17 appearances.

  • The Commanders signed Pringle on Wednesday. Pringle has rejoined the Commanders after playing with Washington during the 2023 season. The veteran wideout tallied 14 receptions for 161 yards and no touchdowns across 17 games last year, and he's expected to compete for another depth role in the Commanders' WR room as the preseason progresses.

  • Pringle finished the 2023 campaign with 14 catches for 161 yards in 17 games. The 30-year-old drew only 22 targets while mostly operating as a depth wide receiver. Pringle played more snaps on special teams (195) than on offense (183) and now is scheduled for unrestricted free agency in the offseason. Around half of his career receiving production came in one season (2021) with Kansas City.

  • Pringle caught each of his three targets for 33 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 31-19 loss to the Giants. The fumble came at the end of a long kick return, spoiling an otherwise solid day for Pringle, who was one of three Commanders WRs to finish in the range of 25-to-35-percent snap share with Curtis Samuel ejected for fighting. The rotation behind the top three suggests Pringle won't have much value even if Samuel, Terry McLaurin and/or Jahan Dotson misses time over the final month and a half of the season.

  • Pringle played 13 snaps on offense in Sunday's 35-33 win over Denver, reeling in his lone target for a four-yard gain. After being limited exclusively to a special-teams role in the Commanders' Week 1 win over the Cardinals, Pringle was able to carve out a small depth role at receiver. He still ranked well behind Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel and Dyami Brown and is unlikely to carve out a meaningful passing-game role unless the Commanders lose multiple receivers to injury.
