The Lions waived Buggs on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Head coach Dan Campbell told reporters Tuesday that Alim McNeill (knee) could come off injured reserve and return to the field this weekend, so the Lions likely parted ways with Buggs to open up a roster spot. The fifth-year pro had spent the last two seasons in Detroit, appearing in 27 games and recording 58 total tackles, including two tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks, while also deflecting three passes.

Buggs signed a contract with the Lions on Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. After he spent the regular season with the Steelers and the postseason with the Raiders last year, Buggs will join the Lions ahead of the 2022 campaign. The defensive tackle produced 17 tackles and a pass deflection in 10 contests with Pittsburgh in 2021.

Buggs (illness) is out Sunday against the Ravens, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports. Buggs hasn't played since Week 11 after suffering an ankle injury and later being placed on the COVID list. Despite clearing COVID protocols last Saturday, Buggs has not yet returned to practice. In his absence, Henry Mondeaux will likely continue to see extra opportunity.

Buggs (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans, Burt Lauten of the Steelers' official site reports. This will make the fourth straight game that Buggs does not play and the third he has missed due to a lingering ankle injury. The nose tackle has held a rotational role, accumulating 17 tackles on the season and 24 or more defensive snaps in each of the last four games he has appeared in.

Buggs was sidelined for the last two games due to an ankle issue, but he should be back in action against the Titans on Sunday. Across the last four games, he's recorded nine tackles (two solo) and a pass defense.
