Patriots drop D.J. Williams

The New England Patriots have released tight end D.J. Williams eight days after signing him, per ESPN. Williams played three snaps on offense Sunday. The rapid recovery of Michael Hoomanawanui from a knee injury apparently made Williams expendable.
