Jermaine Kearse: Announces end to career
Jermaine Kearse (leg) announced Tuesday in a post on his personal Instagram account that he has retired from professional football. After going undrafted out of Washington in 2012, Kearse went on to spend eight seasons in the NFL with the Seahawks, Jets and Lions, totaling 255 receptions for 3,291 yards and 17 touchdowns. The most notable moments of the 30-year-old receiver's career came in Seattle's back-to-back Super Bowl trips in 2013 and 2014. He notched four receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown in Seattle's Super Bowl 48 win over the Broncos and recorded a highlight-reel catch on the Seahawks' final drive of their eventual Super Bowl 49 loss to the Patriots. While with the Lions in 2019, Kearse missed the entire season with a broken leg suffered in a preseason contest, and he ultimately didn't find an opportunity with another team after hitting the open market in March.

Lions' Jermaine Kearse: Placed on IR
Jermaine Kearse (foot) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. It seemed evident upon replay of the injury that Kearse would miss an extended amount of time, so this designation shouldn't come as much of a shock. The veteran wide receiver was expected to have a significant role in the passing attack behind Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and Danny Amendola, but that will now fall into the hands of relative newcomers Tommylee Lewis, Brandon Powell or Andy Jones.

Lions' Jermaine Kearse: Signs one-year deal
Jermaine Kearse agreed Thursday with the Detroit Lions on a one-year, $1.35 million deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Despite being 29 years old and just two seasons removed from an 800-yard campaign, Kearse settled for a one-year contract from a team that already has its top-three wideout spots solidified with Kenny Golladay (chest), Marvin Jones (knee) and Danny Amendola. Coming off an ugly 2018 campaign with just 4.9 yards per target, Kearse may need to battle Tommylee Lewis, Andy Jones and Brandon Powell for the No. 4 spot on Detroit's depth chart. Kearse reunites with Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who held the same position in Seattle from 2011 to 2017.

Jermaine Kearse: Declines Detroit's offer
Jermaine Kearse recently turned down a contract offer from the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Kearse is just two years removed from an 810-yard, five-touchdown season and doesn't seem happy with the offers he's getting on the open market. He mentioned in April that he'd be interested in a return to Seattle, but the Seahawks then used three draft picks on wide receivers. The 29-year-old averaged just 4.9 yards on 76 targets last season, finishing last in the league among all WRs with 30 or more receptions. Kearse missed Week 17 with an Achilles injury, but his workout with Detroit apparently went well enough to induce a contract offer -- just not an offer to his liking.

Jermaine Kearse: Interested in rejoining Seattle
Jermaine Kearse (Achilles) said in late March that he'd be interested in rejoining the Seahawks, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.Kearse is one of the bigger names still available after four weeks of free agency, coming off a 2018 season in which he produced his fewest yards (371) since 2013. He's 29 years old and owns a lifetime mark of just 7.3 yards per target, but he's only two years removed from a career-best 2017 campaign with 65 catches for 810 yards and five scores. Kearse caught on with Seattle as an undrafted rookie in 2012 and stayed with the team until he was traded to the Jets at the end of the 2017 preseason. It isn't clear if his interest in a Seahawks reunion is mutual, but it would make sense given the current state of the team's depth chart at wide receiver.

Jets' Jermaine Kearse: Sharp decline in 2018
Jermaine Kearse (Achilles) finished the 2018 season with 37 catches for 371 yards and one touchdown.Kearse took a major step back after recording career highs across the board with 65 catches, 810 yards and five touchdowns in his first season with the New York Jets. The interest in Kearse as an unrestricted free agent this offseason is likely to be tepid, and he's unlikely to work his way onto the fantasy radar in most formats regardless of where he lands.

Jets' Jermaine Kearse: Ruled out this week
Jermaine Kearse (Achilles) won't play Sunday against the Patriots.Nor will Quincy Enunwa (ankle), which sets the stage for Robby Anderson to head the New York Jets' Week 17 wideout corps, with Rich Cimini of ESPN.com suggesting that Andre Roberts and Deontay Burnett figure to serve as the team's No. 2 and No. 3 receivers in the team's season finale. Kearse, who turns 29 in February, is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason on the heels of a 2018 season in which he logged 37 catches (on 76 targets) for 371 yards and a TD in 14 games.

Jets' Jermaine Kearse: Not visible at practice
Jermaine Kearse (Achilles) wasn't seen at the early portion of Friday's practice, Ethan B. Greenberg of the New York Jets' official site reports. What appears to be Kearse's third straight absence at practice this week puts him on track to miss the season finale at New England. The 28-year-old suffered the injury Week 16 against the Packers and underwent X-rays on Monday. Quincy Enunwa (ankle) has been similarly absent this week, leaving little depth at wide receiver behind top target Robby Anderson.
