Chargers' Khalil Mack: Staying with Bolts on one-year deal
Khalil Mack and the Los Angeles Chargers agreed to terms Monday on a one-year, fully-guaranteed $18 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Mack had been scheduled for free agency, but he instead will remain in Los Angeles, where the departure of Joey Bosa leaves edge rusher still a pivotal position of need for the Chargers. The 34-year-old veteran is coming off a productive 2024 campaign in which he tallied 39 tackles, including 6.0 sacks, plus nine pass breakups and two forced fumbles over 16 regular-season appearances, and as recently as 2023 he racked up a career-best 17.0 sacks across 17 regular-season games with the team.

Chargers' Khalil Mack: Delays retirement, will play in '25
Khalil Mack plans to forgo retirement and intends to continue playing during the 2025 season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.After the Los Angeles Chargers were eliminated from the playoffs with a 32-12 loss to the Texans on Jan. 11, Mack told reporters that he would take some time to decide whether he wanted to continue his playing career. The 33-year-old edge rusher has ultimately chosen to play at least one more year, and he shouldn't have much trouble securing a short-term deal in free agency. Though he took a big step back statistically in 2024 after notching a career-high 17 sacks in 2023, Mack was still reasonably productive with six sacks, 39 tackles, nine pass breakups and two forced fumbles over 16 appearances for the Chargers during the regular season before tacking on two more sacks in the wild-card round.

Chargers' Khalil Mack: Not certain about returning
Khalil Mack said Sunday that he was unsure about his football future, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.Mack is set to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career and will also be considering retirement this offseason. Although Rhim relays that the 33-year-old believes the Los Angeles Chargers are his best chance to win, Mack also stated, "I don't know if I'm going to play football moving forward, so there's some things I got to talk through with my wife, spend some time with my kids and try not to make a rash decision after a loss." Mack played in 16 regular-season games and dealt with a groin injury for multiple weeks in November, which may have impacted his ability to stay on the field -- he played just 582 snaps on defense, his lowest number since 2021 when he suited up just seven times for the Bears.
