Sam Ficken has landed on the Lions' practice squad.Ficken started the season in Tennessee but subsequently landed on its injured reserve with a groin injury. Both parties eventually reached an injury settlement and he was waived from IR. He tried out with Jacksonville prior to landing in Detroit, so his groin issue is seemingly behind him. He will now look to make an impression on the practice squad while waiting for an opportunity to get called up.

Sam Ficken remains the only kicker on the Tennessee Titans' roster after Tucker McCann was waived Monday due to an injury suffered in the team's preseason opener, Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com reports.Ficken was claimed off waivers from the Jets on Aug. 1, and the 28-year-old kicker now finds himself without competition as the season quickly approaches. Through two weeks of the preseason, the Penn State product is 3-for-3 on field goals and 6-for-6 on PATs.
