Parker Romo: Out as Atlanta's kicker
The Falcons will waive John Parker Romo on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.During his seven-game run as Atlanta's kicker, Romo connected on 11 of his 14 field-goal tries, but it was his missed extra-point attempt in this past Sunday's 24-23 loss to the Patriots that ultimately cost him his job. After working out veteran Zane Gonzalez on Tuesday, the Falcons elected to have him replace Romo as their placekicker heading into Sunday's game against the Colts in Berlin. Despite his costly miss in Week 9, Romo still owns a solid 84.6 percent conversion rate on field-goal attempts over his 11 career NFL games between stops with Minnesota and Atlanta, so it wouldn't be surprising if he received another opportunity elsewhere later on this season.

Falcons' Parker Romo: Back to practice squad
John Parker Romo reverted to the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad Monday.Romo was elevated to the Falcons' active roster for Week 2 and took over as the team's kicker for Sunday's 22-6 win over the Vikings, finishing 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts and knocking down his lone extra-point try. Though Romo is back on the practice squad, head coach Raheem Morris said Monday that there is "about a 90 percent chance" that Romo is called upon to handle kicking duties Week 3 against the Panthers. Younghoe Koo was inactive for the Falcons' Week 2 win, though Morris relayed that the team hasn't made a permanent decision on a kicker between Romo and Koo for the rest of the season. Even so, a strong performance in the Falcons' upcoming NFC South clash would give Romo the inside edge on maintaining the kicking job for the foreseeable future.
