Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Elevated for Week 10
The New York Giants elevated Isaiah Hodgins from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game versus Carolina in Germany, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.Hodgins had previously been elevated in Weeks 5 and 6, and he recorded one catch for five yards while logging 38 offensive snaps in those two games. The fifth-year pro's elevation for Week 10 comes as a result of Darius Slayton being ruled out for the contest against Carolina while in the NFL's concussion protocol. Hodgins isn't likely to see heavy volume Sunday, but he should get some opportunities to contribute as he did in the previous two games for which he has suited up this season.

Isaiah Hodgins: Sticks around with Big Blue

Isaiah Hodgins: Cut by Giants
The Giants released Isaiah Hodgins on Tuesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports. The 2020 sixth-round pick has never reached even 400 receiving yards in a season, but he did enjoy a brief run of semi-relevance for fantasy football in the second half of the 2022 campaign when he scored four TDs in a five-game stretch (Weeks 13-17) while averaging 5.0 catches for 50.0 yards on 6.6 targets. Hodgins then opened 2023 as a starter, but he was quickly demoted to a part-time role after managing just 64 yards over the first three games. He had just two games with more than 24 yards last season, and none with more than 40.

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Precarious spot on depth chart
Isaiah Hodgins recorded one reception on two targets for three yards in Saturday's 10-6 preseason loss to the Jets. The New York Giants rested all four of their top wide receivers, leaving Hodgins and Allen Robinson on the field to begin the game. Tommy DeVito struggled to move the ball through the air, making it difficult to evaluate Hodgins' performance. However, his status on the roster is certainly in question given that he appeared in this game, and the Giants could opt to keep other players at the position ahead of Hodgins given his lack of ability to contribute on special teams.

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Odd man out with Slayton's return
Isaiah Hodgins caught a lot of passes with the first-team offense last week but seems to be the odd man out now that Darius Slayton is at OTAs, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.Slayton, Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson figure to be the top three wide receivers, leaving Hodgins to compete with Jalin Hyatt, Allen Robinson, Isaiah McKenzie and others for depth roles. It's hard to find a roster with more backup WRs that have starting experience in the NFL, but in Hodgins' case, he mostly got that opportunity because the New York Giants were so thin at his position the past two seasons. Now that they're in better shape -- at least at wide receiver -- he'll head to training camp without assurances of a Week 1 roster spot, after signing a one-year contract that includes only $325,000 guaranteed.
