Jaren Hall: Finds new opportunity
Jaren Hall signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Monday.Hall was waived by the Vikings on Thursday, as they opted to go with Brett Rypien as their No. 3 option at quarterback instead. The BYU product will now fill that void for Seattle, as the team only had starter Geno Smith and backup Sam Howell at the position between its active roster and practice squad before today. Hall appeared in three contests for Minnesota last season, completing 13 of his 20 pass attempts for 168 yards and an interception, while also losing two fumbles.

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Sees bulk of action Saturday
Jaren Hall completed 17 of 25 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 26-3 preseason win over the Eagles. He added 11 rushing yards on two carries. The 2023 fifth-round pick got the start due to both Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens getting held out of the Minnesota Vikings' preseason finale, and Hall played into the third quarter before being replaced under center by Matt Corral. Hall was was impressive, albeit against Philadelphia's second-team defenders, and he led Minnesota to five straight scoring drives to begin the game, hitting Trishton Jackson and Justin Hall for TDs in the red zone. The second-year player appears set as the Vikings' No. 3 quarterback, but even with J.J. McCarthy (knee) lost for the season, Hall is unlikely to see any regular-season action other than in an emergency.

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Getting Saturday start
Coach Kevin O'Connell noted Thursday that Jaren Hall will start Saturday's preseason finale against the Eagles.Without naming specific players, O'Connell implied that a number of regulars are in line to be rested Saturday, while adding that Matt Corral is likely to see snaps after Hall. With that in mind, we wouldn't expect to see starter Sam Darnold face Philadelphia.

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Two TDs against Cleveland
Jaren Hall completed four of five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 27-12 preseason win over the Browns.J.J. McCarthy's season-ending knee injury moved Hall up to the No. 3 spot on the Minnesota Vikings' depth chart at quarterback, and the 26-year-old likely locked down that job with his performance Saturday. Taking over from Nick Mullens to begin the second half, Hall connected with Malik Knowles for a one-yard touchdown on his very first pass of the game, then found Jeshaun Jones for a 71-yard catch-and-run early in the fourth quarter. Barring further injuries to the Minnesota QB room, Hall isn't likely to see action during the regular season.

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Fourth QB in Minnesota
Jaren Hall isn't projected to make the Minnesota Vikings' 53-man roster, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.A 2023 fifth-round pick, Hall played 46 offensive snaps as a rookie and turned the ball over three times while absorbing four sacks. He completed 13 of 20 passes for just 168 scoreless yards. With the Vikings' first-round selection of J.J. McCarthy following the signing of Sam Darnold, Hall will need to beat out veteran Nick Mullens for the third spot if he's going to stick in Minnesota.

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Plays 46 snaps as rookie
Jaren Hall appeared in three games games during the 2023 season, completing 13 of 20 passes (65 percent) for 168 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception while adding six carries for 14 scoreless yards. The fifth-round rookie started Week 9 after Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending torn Achilles' tendon Week 8. Hall lasted all of 11 offensive snaps versus Atlanta before he was concussed and replaced by trade pickup Joshua Dobbs. Dobbs then started the next four games before giving way to Nick Mullens. Coach Kevin O'Connell, trying to find an offensive spark, went back to Hall as the Week 17 starter but pulled him at halftime against the Packers after he went just 5-for-10 passing for 67 yards and one interception with a lost fumble. Hall likely won't be guaranteed a spot on the 53-man roster next season after his lackluster first season as a pro. He'll be competing for a backup job.

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Serving as emergency QB
Jaren Hall (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Lions, but he'll serve as the emergency quarterback, Craig Peters of the Minnesota Vikings' official site reports.Hall drew his first career start against the Packers in Week 17 but struggled and was benched in favor of Nick Mullens to start the second half. Hall was then demoted to third on the depth chart during Week 18 prep, so it's not surprising to see the rookie fifth-round pick listed as inactive for the regular-season finale. Mullens will start versus Detroit, while Joshua Dobbs serves as the primary backup.

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Falls to third on depth chart
Jaren Hall has been demoted to third on the depth chart at quarterback for Sunday's game against the Lions, Jonathan Harrison of SI.com reports.Head coach Kevin O'Connell announced Thursday that Hall would be denied a second straight start in the regular-season finale, with Nick Mullens picking up the starting nod in his stead. O'Connell wouldn't initially commit to whether Hall or Joshua Dobbs would serve as Mullens' backup in Week 18, but the coach clarified following Friday's practice that Dobbs had moved up to the second spot on the depth chart. Hall is thus likely to be inactive Sunday as an emergency third quarterback and won't be eligible to play unless the Minnesota Vikings lose both Mullens and Dobbs to injury.

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Not starting Week 18
Jaren Hall will cede starting quarterback duties to Nick Mullens for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Lions, but head coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that he hasn't decided whether Hall or Joshua Dobbs will serve as the team's No. 2 signal-caller in Week 18, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports. The Minnesota Vikings' decision to move Hall down at least one spot on the depth chart comes as little surprise after the rookie fifth-round pick struggled to move the offense during his second career NFL start in this past weekend's 33-10 loss to the Packers. Hall completed just five of 10 pass attempts for 67 yards and an interception, took three sacks and lost a fumble in the first two quarters before being benched in favor of Mullens after halftime. The Vikings' decision to reinstall Mullens as their starter for Week 18 marks the fifth quarterback change that O'Connell has made since Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending torn Achilles' tendon in late October.
