Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Progressing well in recovery

Coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday that Zach Charbonnet continues to do a "great job" in his recovery from the torn ACL he suffered during the divisional-round of last season's playoffs, Cameron Van Til of Seattle Sports reports.Per the report, Charbonnet, who underwent surgery to repair his left knee Feb. 20, did some conditioning work during Tuesday's minicamp practice. Given the timing of his procedure, the expectation has been that Charbonnet will miss time out of the gate this coming season, and in that scenario 2026 first-round pick Jadarian Price, as well as George Holani and Emanuel Wilson, would be in line to handle Seattle's backfield duties come Week 1. However, when asked if there's a chance Charbonnet could be ready by the start of the season, Macdonald said Wednesday, "Everything's possible." Either way, Charbonnet's progress will be worth monitoring closely as the summer rolls along, and once he's ready to return to game action, the 2023 second-rounder will have an opportunity to claim a key role in a Seattle Seahawks RB corps that no longer includes Kenneth Walker, who led the team with 221 carries in 2025.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Gets in some light on-field work

Zach Charbonnet, who underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in mid-February, was spotted doing what Brendon Nelson of SI.com describes as some light on-field work during Tuesday's mandatory minicamp session.Per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune, while Charbonnet's teammates warmed up on the main field Tuesday, the running back did about 15 minutes of high-knee hurdler steps while dressed in sweats and flat running shoes, as well as lateral movement and other low-impact drills. Though his presence on the field in any capacity is encouraging, given the typical eight-to-12 month recovery period for his surgery, it remains to be seen when Charbonnet will be cleared for full participation. He's on track to miss time at the beginning of the regular season, paving the way for 2026 first-round pick Jadarian Price, as well as George Holani and Emanuel Wilson, to handle Seattle's backfield duties.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Looking at midseason return?

Zach Charbonnet (knee) is realistically looking at a midseason return, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL in the Seattle Seahawks' divisional-round win over the 49ers a little over four months ago and is fully expected to miss the start of the 2026 campaign. Starting the season on the reserve/PUP list would seem to make the most sense, and that would at least cost Charbonnet the first four games of the regular season. Rookie Jadarian Price, free-agent pickup Emanuel Wilson and George Holani will likely all see snaps out of the Seattle backfield while Charbonnet is sidelined.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Team drafts RB in Round 1

Zach Charbonnet (knee) will face increased competition for touches once he recovers from a torn ACL, as Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports that the Seattle Seahawks drafted Jadarian Price 32nd overall Thursday,The Seahawks lost running back Kenneth Walker in free agency but didn't take long to draft Walker's replacement, using the final selection of Thursday's first round on Price out of Notre Dame. Charbonnet split carries with Walker during the 2025 regular season, but Walker took on a workhorse role after Charbonnet tore his ACL in the NFC divisional-round win over the 49ers. Charbonnet's recovery is likely to stretch into the 2026 regular season, but if he can regain his pre-injury form, he'll likely return to a platoon role in a Seahawks backfield that also includes Price, Emanuel Wilson and George Holani.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Expected to play in 2026

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald declined to provide a specific estimate for the return of Zach Charbonnet (ACL) on Monday but said "he's not going to miss the whole year," John Boyle of the team's official site reports.Macdonald said he expects WR Tory Horton (shin/groin) to be ready for the start of training camp but declined to link Charbonnet, who tore his right ACL in January and underwent surgery in February, to a similar timetable. Given the timing of Charbonnet's procedure, which carries a typical 8-to-12-month recovery, his status for both training camp and Week 1 have to be considered in serious doubt. However, GM John Schneider said in February that he "wouldn't put anything past [Charbonnet]" and that the running back's rehab prospects are "more optimistic than it was initially," Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. During the early days of free agency, Seattle inked Emanuel Wilson to a one-year deal and extended George Holani an ERFA tender, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the team make further backfield additions with Kenneth Walker moving on to Kansas City via free agency.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: No timetable yet for return

At this stage, the Seattle Seahawks don't have an estimate on when Zach Charbonnet (knee) can resume football-related activities, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.Charbonnet, who is under contract with Seattle through 2026, had surgery last weekend to repair a torn ACL in his knee, which typically carries an 8-12 month recovery period. However, it is worth noting that coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday regarding a potential timetable for the running back, "It's more optimistic than it was initially. So that's exciting on like, being able to come back at an earlier time." In any case, Macdonald added that Charbonnet is "not gonna do anything in the spring," a reality that figures to impact the Seahawks' offseason approach in terms of their backfield. The most notable moving part on that front is the status of fellow RB Kenneth Walker, who is eligible to become a free agent following his MVP effort in Super Bowl LX. Given the timing of Charbonnet's surgery, his Week 1 status remains in doubt, but GM John Schneider isn't willing to rule out the possibility that 2023 second-rounder could be available. "I wouldn't put anything past him," Schneider said of Charbonnet.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Undergoes surgery Friday

Zach Charbonnet posted on social media that he underwent surgery to repair his torn ACL on Friday, Corbin K. Smith of SI.com reports.Charbonnet suffered the ACL tear during Seattle's victory over San Francisco in the NFC divisional round. While Smith notes that it's not uncommon for a player to have surgery several weeks after the occurrence of an ACL injury, he also posits that the timing figures to push Charbonnet's recovery timeline further into the 2026 season. At this point, a definitive timeframe for the running back's return to game action hasn't been announced, but it's certainly possible that Charbonnet will miss a significant portion of the upcoming campaign.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Placed on IR

The Seattle Seahawks have placed Zach Charbonnet (knee) on IR, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.Charbonnet suffered a season-ending knee injury during Seattle's divisional-round win over the 49ers this past Sunday, an issue that coach Mike Macdonald noted Monday that he was "pretty sure" is "ACL (related)." To bolster the team's backfield depth behind starter Kenneth Walker, the Seahawks activated George Holani (hamstring) from IR on Friday. Charbonnet appears to be facing a lengthy recovery period, though at this stage a timetable on that front has yet to be outlined.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Extent of knee injury still TBD

Coach Mike Macdonald said Monday that the Seattle Seahawks are "pretty sure" Zach Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Saturday's 41-6 divisional-round win against the 49ers, but the team hasn't determined the full extent of the injury, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports. At the very least, Charbonnet will miss the rest of the postseason due to the knee injury, and Macdonald relayed to Adam Schefter of ESPN earlier Monday that it's "a significant knee injury, unfortunately. ... He's going to need surgery, so he's got a long road to come back." Once its severity becomes evident, a more precise timetable for Charbonnet's recovery should be more clear, but he appears poised to miss a good portion of the 2026 campaign. Kenneth Walker is set to lead the team's backfield in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Rams and potentially beyond that point, while practice-squad members Velus Jones and Cam Akers are candidates to be brought up to the active roster, and George Holani (hamstring) also could be activated from IR.

Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Reportedly recovering from ACL tear

Zach Charbonnet likely suffered a season-ending ACL tear during Saturday's 41-6 NFC divisional-round win over the 49ers, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports.Charbonnet rushed five times for 20 yards versus San Francisco before being forced out with a knee injury in the second quarter, paving the way for Kenneth Walker to take over as the unquestioned No. 1 backfield option for Seattle and rush 19 times for 116 yards and three scores. Head coach Mike Macdonald said Monday that Charbonnet's injury is significant, will require surgery and leaves him facing "a long road to come back," per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The timing of Charbonnet's injury will not only cause him to miss the remainder of the Seahawk's postseason run but likely the entire offseason and the beginning of the 2026 regular season. He led the team with 12 touchdowns (all rushing) across 16 regular-season appearances in 2025 and finished second on the team with 730 yards on 184 carries behind Walker. Those statistics all represent career-high marks for Charbonnet, and he additionally secured 20 of 24 targets for 144 yards.
