Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Practices in pads Wednesday

Rodgers (knee) participated in Wednesday's padded practice, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

As the Packers emerged from their bye week, Rodgers upheld his standard of rehabbing his left knee Tuesday, with an expectation that he would practice Wednesday, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Rodgers proceeded to do just that, and was even donning a smaller knee brace than normal, per Silverstein. While his level of participation Wednesday is unknown, Rodgers seems to be as healthy as he's been since injuring the knee in the season opener.

  • P.J. Walker QB | SEA

Phillip Walker: Released from Colts' practice squad

Walker was released from the Colts' practice squad Tuesday, according to the Colts' official site.

Walker has had three separate stints on the Colts' practice squad, including participation in the team's offseason program and training camp this summer before being waived during final cuts. If the Colts decide to promote other practice squad members to the active roster, there's a good chance Walker could find himself back in Indianapolis.

Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Plans to practice Wednesday

Rodgers (knee) said he's hopeful to practice in pads Wednesday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The Packers reconvened for practice Tuesday following their bye week, with Rodgers opening the week with the rehab group while he continues to nurse an MCL sprain in his left knee. Despite his lack of activity with the main group, Rodgers' health seems to be improving, as he said he didn't require an MRI during the break in the Packers' schedule and noted that he's hopeful he'll soon ditch the brace he required in the team's Week 6 win over the 49ers, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com. It's still worth tracking how the Packers list Rodgers' practice participation Wednesday through Friday, but there doesn't seem to be any concern about him carrying an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Rams.

Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Not spotted at practice

Rodgers wasn't seen on the field during the early portion of Tuesday's practice, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.

Coming off a bye week, the Packers were practicing in full pads Tuesday, so it's expected that Wednesday's session will be more of a walk-through session. Green Bay isn't required to release its initial practice report for Week 8 before Wednesday, so it won't be known until that time whether Rodgers' lingering left knee injury renders him a limited or non-participant. Even if Rodgers' practice involvement remains spotty throughout the next few days, there's little doubt that he'll be ready to play Sunday against the Rams, especially with the benefit of 12 days of rest in between games.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Cleared for light throwing

Coach Adam Gase said Tuesday that Tannehill (shoulder) would be able to resume light throwing at practice, Safid Deen of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

The Dolphins have already ruled Tannehill out for a third straight game Thursday versus the Texans, but it appears the quarterback is at least making progress in his recovery from the right shoulder injury, which is believed to be an AC joint sprain. Tannehill has been practicing with the team on a limited basis since he was first revealed to be dealing with the injury, but he's mostly been limited to conditioning work while the Dolphins have barred him from throwing. Gase said that Tannehill may use a Nerf ball to limit the strain on his shoulder while he initiates his throwing program, so it appears the signal-caller will require additional healing time before he's able to throw a regular football without restrictions. Brock Osweiler will draw another start while Tannehill turns his focus to a potential return Week 9 against the Jets.

  • Tom Savage QB | DET

49ers' Tom Savage: Returns to San Francisco

Savage re-signed with the 49ers on Monday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Savage became an option following Adrian Colbert's (ankle) placement on injured reserve. For now, San Francisco seems comfortable with C.J. Beathard at the helm. Savage will provide a veteran safety blanket should anything happen to Beathard, but even if he did find his way onto the field in 2018, his fantasy value figures to rank near the bottom of the league.

  • Bills' Nathan Peterman: Won't start Week 8

Peterman's teammate Derek Anderson will get the start Week 8 against New England, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.

Perhaps it's a sign as to just how bad Peterman has been in limited chances -- he's thrown nine interceptions on just 79 career passes -- when he's being bypassed for a 35-year-old that just signed with the team two weeks ago and turned the ball over four times in Sunday's loss against the Colts. Josh Allen (elbow) isn't ready to come back yet, so Peterman will remain the No. 2 for the time being. It'll be interesting to see what the Bills do when the prized rookie is ready to return, while it's possible Peterman could see the field next Monday night if the Patriots get out to a big lead versus the Bills, if only so the team has a last-ditch attempt to see if the second-year player holds any promise around his shattered ego.

  • Josh Allen QB | BUF

Bills' Josh Allen: Ruled out for Week 8

Allen (elbow) will not play Week 8 against the Patriots, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.

Derek Anderson will get the start on Monday Night Football in Week 8, even after committing four turnovers in Sunday's 37-5 loss to the Colts. Allen remains week-to-week while recovering from a sprain in his throwing elbow.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Won't start Thursday

Coach Adam Gase said Tannehill (shoulder) won't start Thursday's game against the Texans, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.

Tannehill was listed as a limited participant on Monday's practice report estimate, but it isn't a good sign to see him ruled out this early in the week. Brock Osweiler will get at least one more start while the Dolphins' starting quarterback recovers from an AC joint sprain. It's unclear if Tannehill has a decent chance to return for Week 9 against the Jets, but Gase does at least expect the quarterback to resume some form of throwing this week, per Wolfe.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Listed as limited Monday

Tannehill (shoulder) was listed as a limited practice participant Monday, but he still isn't expected to play in Thursday's game against the Texans, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.

Monday's report was merely an estimate, as the Dolphins didn't actually practice one day after a 32-21 loss to the Lions. It appears Brock Osweiler will get at least one more game under center, likely playing with an injury-depleted receiving corps on a short week. Tannehill is recovering from a sprained AC joint and reportedly wasn't able to throw at all last week.
