Matteau was recalled by the Avalanche on Friday.
Valeri Nichushkin (upper body) and Gabriel Landeskog (suspension) will both be sidelined for Saturday's game versus St. Louis, so Matteau will likely slot into a bottom-six role versus the Blues. The 27-year-old Matteau picked up one goal in 18 appearances with Columbus last year.
