Mateychuk was recalled from AHL Cleveland on Sunday.
Mateychuk was sent to the minors ahead of the regular season, but he'll rejoin the NHL club just before the league's holiday break. The 20-year-old defenseman hasn't yet made his NHL debut, and it's unclear whether he'll enter the Blue Jackets' lineup during his time with the club.
