Callahan was assigned to AHL Providence on Monday, per Andrew Fantucchio of Boston Hockey Now.
Callahan has one goal, nine shots on net, 12 blocked shots and eight hits in 17 NHL appearances this season. Boston recalled Frederic Brunet from the minors in a corresponding move.
