Gelinas signed a professional tryout agreement with the Canadiens on Tuesday, TSN reports.
The depth defenseman was not tendered a qualifying offer by the Avalanche, so he became an unrestricted free agent July 1. However, even with a change of scenery, it would be an extremely deep reach to go out and get Gelinas for your virtual squad; between the Devils and Avalanche, he's provided only 14 goals and 41 assists over 189 career games at the NHL level.
