Armia skated on the second line during Monday's practice, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Armia is getting first crack at the wing spot made available by Patrik Laine's knee injury, which is expected to keep him out 2-3 months. Armia, who scored a career-high 17 goals last season, is also expected to line up on the second-unit power play when the puck drops on Montreal's regular season Wednesday at home against Toronto.
