Irwin was called up by Vancouver on Wednesday, Jeff Paterson of The Hockey News reports.
Irwin is 36 years old with 25 goals and 93 points in 461 career NHL contests, but he hasn't played at the top level this year. Instead, he's registered two assists in 13 outings with AHL Abbotsford.
