McMichael found Tom Wilson in the slot for Washington's third goal, but it was not enough to get the Capitals a win in their home opener. The 23-year-old appears to be locked into a top-six role alongside Pierre-Luc Dubois and Wilson and will get every opportunity to top the 18 goals and 33 points he notched in the 2023-24 regular season.
