Thompson made 23 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Sharks on Thursday.
Thompson and the Capitals wobbled in the second, and the Sharks sank their teeth in. He allowed three goals in a 2:46 span to jump out to a 3-1 lead. Since Christmas, Thompson is 3-4-1 in eight starts, allowing 22 goals in that span. Still, he remains one of the NHL's best with a 2.36 GAA and .915 save percentage in 34 starts (17-13-4).
