Dubnyk agreed to terms on a professional tryout agreement with AHL Charlotte on Tuesday.
Dubnyk seemed destined for retirement after failing to land with an NHL club during the offseason. Still, even if he does secure a permanent deal with the Checkers, he won't be eligible for an NHL call-up unless he signs a two-way contract down the road.
