Mantha scored a shorthanded goal, dished an assist, added seven PIM and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime win over the Canucks.
Mantha mixed it up with J.T. Miller twice in the first period. After a roughing minor, Mantha was able to collect the puck coming out of the penalty box to score the Flames' first goal of the season. The winger then fought Miller near the end of the frame, and in the third period, Mantha set up Martin Pospisil's goal to complete a Gordie Howe hat trick. While he has a larger frame, Mantha isn't known for being particularly physical. He had a good 2023-24 with 23 goals and 44 over 74 appearances between Washington and Vegas, and he's poised to see consistent top-six minutes and power-play time after signing with the Flames in July.
