Barrie signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract with Calgary on Thursday, per Salim Nadim Valji of TSN.
Barrie was participating in the Flames' training camp on a tryout basis. He was limited to a goal and 15 points in 41 regular-season contests with Nashville in 2023-24, but he's traditionally been an effective presence with the man advantage. If Calgary uses him on its top power-play unit, then a 40-plus point campaign is entirely possible, but the Flames might opt to use MacKenzie Weegar in that role over Barrie. At the end of the day, while Barrie can be an effective offensive force under the right circumstances, it remains to be seen if the 33-year-old will enjoy those opportunities with the Flames.
