Clendening was placed on waivers Wednesday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.
Clendening hasn't appeared in an NHL game since the 2018-19 season with the Blue Jackets. He signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia this summer but will likely be considered a depth player for the organization.
