Schmid is expected to start in Sunday's road preseason game against San Jose, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Schmid had a 5-9-1 record, 3.15 GAA and .895 save percentage in 19 contests with New Jersey in 2023-24. He's battling Ilya Samsonov for Vegas' backup job, but Schmid is likely to start the 2024-25 campaign in the AHL.
