Shore was assigned to AHL Chicago on Monday, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Shore suited up in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win against the Stars, logging 8:35 of ice time and a minus-1 rating. That appearance marked his first NHL game since the 2016-17 campaign. Barring another slew of injuries, Shore likely will spend the rest of the year in the minors.
