Gagner will take part in training camp with Carolina on a professional tryout agreement, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports Tuesday.
Gagner saw action in just 28 regular-season games for the Oilers last year and was a healthy scratch throughout the postseason. If he does earn a full NHL contract coming out of camp, he figures to slot into a fourth-line role and could find himself periodically serving as a healthy scratch. As such, Gagner is unlikely to offer much in terms of fantasy value this season.
