Schneider was waived by the Islanders on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Schneider is behind Ilya Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov on the Isles' depth chart, so he was always expected to start the season in the minors. The 36-year-old vet appeared in only one game with the big club in 2021-22.
