Cholowski was waived by the Islanders on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Cholowski appeared in 11 games split between the Capitals and the Kraken last season, picking up three helpers over that span. The 24-year-old blueliner will likely spend most of the 2022-23 campaign with AHL Bridgeport.
