Engvall was summoned from AHL Hamilton on Monday.
Engvall will provide the Islanders with a depth forward option after the team placed Matias Maccelli (lower body) and Calum Ritchie (lower body) on injured reserve Monday. The 30-year-old Engvall has notched two goals and four assists in nine AHL appearances this season.
