Clifford signed a one-year AHL contract with the Marlies on Wednesday, per Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun.
The Marlies are the AHL affiliates of the Maple Leafs, but Clifford won't be eligible to play in the NHL under the terms of his new contract. If the Maple Leafs want to use him during the 2024-25 campaign, then they'll have to first sign him to at least a two-way deal. Clifford had 10 goals, 28 points and 140 PIM in 53 regular-season contests with the Marlies in 2023-24. He's also a veteran of 753 career NHL games, recording 66 goals, 144 points and 905 PIM over that span.
