Akhtyamov was assigned to AHL Toronto on Tuesday.
The Maple Leafs activated Joseph Woll (lower body) from injured reserve in a corresponding move. Woll will start Tuesday's home matchup against Chicago, while Dennis Hildeby will be the backup. Akhtyamov has a 7-5-0 record with a 3.04 GAA and an .896 save percentage in 12 AHL appearances this season.
