Irwin announced his retirement from hockey Thursday, Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean reports.
Irwin played 461 regular-season NHL games in his 11-year NHL career, scoring 25 times while adding 68 assists. The 36-year-old spent last season at the AHL level, finding the back of the net on six occasions while adding 11 assists in 65 games with Abbotsford.
