Silovs stopped 23 shots in Saturday's 3-1 preseason win over the Sabres.
A Ryan McLeod power-play tally in the third period spoiled his shutout bid, but Silovs still ended his preseason on a high note. The 25-year-old netminder is coming off a solid first season with the Penguins, going 19-12-8 in 39 appearances with a 3.07 GAA and .887 save percentage, but he could face a stiff challenge from Sergei Murashov for the top spot on the depth chart.
