Trotman (knee) was assigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre Scranton on Thursday.
Trotman had been with the big club while recovering from the knee surgery he underwent in mid-January, but he'll head to the minors for the foreseeable future. He went scoreless in eight NHL appearances last season.
